Thanks to Hometalk for sending me some paint and crackle samples. I've had them for a while thinking what can I do with these?!? I finally decided what to do... we are getting new siding and I wanted something new for our front porch area. I've done flowers etc... then I was at Home Depot and walked by the wood and the project popped in my head. Painted board and words Fall. Went to the dollar store and found lots of things (it's that how it is)... but what I wanted was a leave outline/stencil. I found a placemat I believe but it was perfect. And a dollar!
got some ribbon and artificial flowers and I was ready.
Thanks to the sweet man at home depot for cutting the huge piece of wood for me in half made the perfect size boards for my sign.
Below step by step of this project. Last picture is finished product by our old siding, as it has decided to rain in Minnesota so new siding is pushed a few days... enjoy.

My wood pieces... I bought 2 as one is a gift.
One painted with paint samples given. I decided to do the process opposite. You are to do crackle first then paint. But I decided I wanted my letters to crackle than the whole part of the board.
I stressed the board by dropping a hammer and screwdriver on it to make some dings. Then took steel wool and gave it alittle wear...
printed on the computer letters the same size of the leaf. Trimmed them to use as stencils. Traced with a pencil...

Painted in the letters using brown acrylic paint. It crakled perfectly! I'm lucky to have a teenager that is a painter and lets me have access to all her paints (I mean I do but them)!
Painted the leaf and then added accent gold paint to the inner parts. (The leaf is the A of Fall)Letters done now just wait for it to dry...
Up close of my crackle letters... I like the look...
Next armed with my glue gun, flowers and ribbon...next step.
Finished product...
Finished product outside. Don't mind the cobwebs, remember new siding so why would I clean?!? Also going to get some colorful mums to decot but you get the idea. I also made the wreath on another post. Super easy and house will be ready for fall...after new siding!
