What are you trying to achieve? What is the purpose of this room? My thoughts - declutter, get rid of stuff - the vase behind the door, basket, plant, the (assume it's) faux fireplace, hang the TV on the wall, get rid of the table the TV sits on and whatever else is against that wall. ALL the knick knacks go in a box until the furniture placement is established. Remove the barco lounger (thought it's probably your favorite place to sit, I get it) It doesn't fit the scale of the room. Or get rid of the sofa and get 2 smaller scale loungers. If possible, trade in the dining table and chairs those are large scale chairs, or at least drop the other side. You have 3 lamps within 7 feet - 2 table and 1 floor. Dining table shouldnt' have lamp, move the one on the little white table to the corner table. Move the floor lamp, not sure where, but after the rest of the stuff is gone, evaluate. Half the stuff in the hutch (lots of books!) goes. Hope I'm not coming off as overly harsh, you asked and that's what I would do.

Oh, my! Small space big furniture.

One thing you might try is turning your hutch so it is flat against the wall and putting your table and chairs in front of it so the long side of table is running the width of hutch. You might be able to scooch your chair down and put your white table and lamp on the other side, thus eliminating the lamp on your dini

You have too much stuff. Little knick-knacks that make your place look so cluttered. You need to get rid of most of the "decor". Start behind the door. Then move to the mantle. No artificial flowers or plants, they all need to go away.

Is the fireplace actually part of the wall? What about the table next to it? If they aren't attached you might move them to the opposite wall and put the sofa where the fireplace is now. The window A/C is covered by the sofa. Curtains are crowded.

Think very seriously about throwing away and clearing out as much as possible.

OMG! Your pup is precious. Without measurements and a full view of the room, it's hard to say, but one thing is obvious. You really need do need some purging! There's no place for the eyes to rest now. Can you store some things, even if under a bed? Then you can switch out some of your accessories every few months for a change. Have you tried the love seat where the recliner is? Put the recliner in front of the window with the end table and lamp to the right of it to share with the sofa. It looks like that would give you better scale. If there's no wall dividing the kitchen and living room, you could create one by hanging plain white curtains (Ikea?) or painter's drop cloths (ceiling to floor). You can use pvc piping to make inexpensive rods. Could the dining table and chairs go on the "wall" to the left of your hutch? It appears to be a drop leak table, If so, you could drop both leafs with chair/s at end/s and open it as needed. You should consider redistributing some of the white pieces of furniture to balance the room. In fact, if you're willing, you should think about painting the dining table white to lighten the bulk of it visually. Leave the chairs as they are OR paint those AND the hutch a pretty Color too! Is it possible to hang a shelf above the table where TV is and put TV on that? You would need to hang it with wall anchors. A helpful hardware attendant can give advise if you ask. if you do that, and if the the dining table is a drop leak, try that under the shelf and use the rectangular table as a dining table. Then you could use the small white tables side by side in front of the sofa, as a coffee table. Use another small table by the recliner and sofa for a lamp and plant. Please leave your dining table cleared or with 1 thing as a center piece. The best way to decide how many knick knacks to use is to take ALL of them out of the room. Then start placing them back in ... one or two at a time. Keep stepping back and add as needed. Balance your lamps around the room to distribute light. In any event. whatever you do, good luck and when you finish your project, send pics for us to admire! ; -)

Hi there - I'm all about comfort, and I don't think you should ditch the lounger! Just get rid of the table the TV is on, mount the TV to the wall, put the fireplace underneath, rid the room of anything that is not absolutely essential (or if you just can't live without it, mount the item to the wall). Sell whatever is in the way on Craiglist, or donate it.

The lanterns would look nice mounted or put on little shelves on the wall above the table and chairs. The table and chairs should change places with the big bookcase, which can go next to the lounger.

Put up another photo when you get it done - and please be sure to include your dog again!
