Got a beach ball left over from summer and some old newspaper? Here's how to turn it to a cute new Jack O' Lantern for Fall!

First I partially inflated a beach ball and tied ribbon around it to add ridges.
Then I added several layers of paper mache paste dipped strips of newspaper to the ball, leaving the bottom open.
Once it was dry, I removed the ball.....
and cut out the features, the top and an opening for a cord in the back.
I also added some scrap cardboard from a box and more strips to close and stabilize the bottom. I also made a "stem" using more paper and glued it to the top. I nabbed the box from my favorite craft store: my recycle bin.
I got a little nervous at this point but only because my supervisor came by and started watching me. Don't you just hate when they watch over your shoulder just to keep you on your toes? Once he was satisfied and on his way, it was smooth sailing again.
Next I covered the entire pumpkin (inside and out) with paper clay. I used Activa Fast Mache. It's the easiest way possible to make paper clay. All you do is add water and mix.
Once it was dry I painted it with acrylic paint and added a finishing layer of indoor/outdoor spray paint.
I then added string lights to the inside and it was ready to go! You could also use a flameless candle if you prefer.
I'm super happy how it turned out and I only spent about $5 on supplies. I already had most of the supplies on hand.

Your paper mache Halloween pumpkin is so CUTE and you did a terrific job ~ I love that you painted the inside as well ~ nice finishing touch [did your supervisor make that suggestion? Tee hee!] Too, your instructions are great ... and encouraging!
