How to eliminate the caterpillars from my palm tree?

I had this problem ( but not on a palm tree ) What I did was to make mixture of washing up liquid soap 1/2 cup plus cup full tea ( leaves) boiled separately plus about 30 cig butts ( 4 or 5 full cigs ) again boiled sep . Mix the lot in about gallon of warm water . Throw the lot and see within 1 hr all hell lets lose . They leave almost at once . ( Tabco and tea is enough poison and aoap will make the water stick to the plant ...workd on my Toms plants and banana plants ) Cheers JS

Please before you kill them, find out what kind of caterpillars they are. If they are some of our endangered butterfly caterpillars please call a nearby science center or zoo for advice. Butterfly's are amazing creatures and we are losing more and more each year.

Be careful if they are saddleback caterpillars...touch them and they will feel like a wasp or bee sting....it was eating my palm tree...

Yes, once again please find out what kind of caterpillars they are as they could turn into moths or butterflies. Our population of pollinators is greatly declining and we shouldn't kill off any insects until we know exactly what they are.

Spray your royal palms with a little vinegar.

Let nature take its course. Butterflies are beautiful and have short life spans. Learn about their cycle of life and you will think differently about killing caterpillars so quickly. They need to eat...to become beautiful.

Sevin Dust, but it's only sold in one pound canisters and Im not sure how you'd get it spread from way up high. Check a local extension or local garden center for a systemic you can pour in soil to kill them when they chew. Act fast, they are eating your tree alive! Chances are, these are NOT pretty little delicate butterflies.

A 12 gauge would do the trick! From a step ladder... but be careful! (Sorry I couldn't resist)
