I, unfortunately, haven't had the same luck as Kim. I wash mine to keep any disease from transferring.

It's always highly recommended. If they are clay, you can even add a little bleach to your cleaning solution, rinse and set in a sunny spot to dry.

I often just hose them off, but I always wash out, with water and a little bleach, the pots that plants have not done well in. I just make a bucket of water, detergent and bleach, immerse them, clean out with an old dish brush, then rinse and let dry.

No, that used to be recommended, but not any more........

  • I do, to make sure that there are no bugs or mold that might have been a problem in the past. Typivally I sterilize before storage and rinse before new use.

I always wash pots in hot sudsy water just in case the previous plant had any sort of disease which may not have been visible to the human eye. It only takes a few minutes and you have reduced the risk of infecting the "new plant"!

Yes, please do as sometimes there are diseases in the old soil that may effect the new plant.

I WOULD AND USE A MILD BLEACH SOLUTION TO KILL ANY FUNGUS OR OTHER ORGANISMS THAT MIGHT AFFECT THE PLANTS HEALTH.
