Has anyone ever made a trellis with bamboo ?

I have an endless supply, most over 10 ft tall. I am trying to make a wall, barrier, separation from my neighbors using all natural items. I live in New England, which means we get all types of weather all year, it's crazy sometimes. I am asking you all how would you connect the bamboo ? Rope ? Jute ? Wire ?
I will be planting a late flowering clematis, very natural to my area, it blooms in September and is very fragrant with tiny white flowers. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !!

I would use Jute. It is natural and would look the best.

Have you tried putting a line of bamboo poles 1 foot into the ground and weaving others through it?

I would use plastic coated wire to connect the bamboo, but then wrap those connections in rope or jute for appearances' sake--at least the major, obvious connections. I think the wire would last longer and make better joints, but the jute/rope would like nicer. I've used natural products like jute to tie up vines to trellises, and it doesn't last long with northeastern winters.

I know bamboo is very strong, in Asia they use it for building and scaffolding. So it should make a great trellis. Interestingly, bamboo grows so well here that when people planted it, it took over everything. So now local governments are outlawing its planting! I love the look of bamboo and I've had great success with clematis vines. Your project will be wonderful. I may even try one of the patterns at Naomie's link, if I can get my hands on some bamboo.

    That should say "look nicer."

    It's my pleasure....
