You might need to call around to places in your area to order it and have it delivered. It is cheaper to order large amounts of mulch this way than to buy tons of bags of it.

I would call around to local companies and ask for pricing! Or you can go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy it by the bag rather inexpensively!

Don't go rubber, it can cause heat build up and cause big problems with plants. I wouldn't go with mulch for a veggie garden, better to use shredded leaves and cut grass that will nourish the soil and plants and you can till it in each spring.

  • What is commonly used in your area? I have gravel, stone and bark on my property. Also what look are you trying to achieve or what purpose will it serve if other than decorative? Mulch plants?

I would use what's locally available, in the PNW its fir bark and is cheapest. I buy it at the recycling yard for yard debri, they grind it up themselves so I know I'm using recycled material.

you will need 2-3 inches of mulch to keep the weeds down. organic mulches -wood chips are better than rock. you can get it in bulk, or by the bag. if you are really lucky your city may have an organic waste u- dump it site. if so go check it out. my town has the organic waste site...wood chip, cut grass, tree limbs for fire wood....fall leaves. flowers in pots someone didn't want to take care of..
