I have used AC PRO kit to recharge. Can has hose, gauge, and instructions. Very easy and user friendly.

Auto refrigerant does dissipate over time. Hoses, crimp connections, thread connections, atmospheric pressures not good. If it doesn't last than you probably have a leak somewhere.

  • Best done by a licensed professtional.

Or look up your make and model on the manufacturers website and follow their instructions.

A/C coolant lines are supposed to be a "sealed" unit. Have your mechanic do a coolant top-off for you. This should be either free or some nominal fee, certainly under $15 or so. IF this doesn't fix your cooling, you'll need the mechanic to do a full system flush, fix whatever is leaking and then recharge the system with coolant. This won't be a cheap fix - probably $100 or more but the service station will tell you ahead of time.
