I broke it when I was locked out because I needed to get in quickly. The hole where the knob used to be is pretty messed up as is the lock mechanism.
Brr! Drafty windows- how to cut the draft?
I have 3 sets of windows configured like this...very drafty, How to you winterize them? There is nothing in the corner to stick tape to. Thank you
this should be an easy job. make sure the door is open. unscrew handle on each side. remove handle but leave the metal bar thought the middle in. put both new handles in place and screw back in place.
Are these modern doorknobs or do you have the old mortise locksets? Is there a particular problem you are having?
Wow I think we are related! I used to have the same problem. If you look at the base of the knob, the long cylinder that goes into the door, you'll see a hole (on one side of the door). Push a screwdriver into the hole and pull the knob off. Disassembly should be obvious from there.

Start by unscrewing the door knob, as you take the pieces apart, pay attention to what your taking off, and where it goes. Next put the pieces in a row as you take them off. Open the new knob, and follow your line of parts, as you put the knob back. Good Luck!
