We use this long fabric tube filled with rice and have it placed on the floor at the foot of the front door. It keeps the draft out.
You can also use batting to stuff the roll. Another version is having 2 rolls, 1 inside and 1 outside with a flat piece of clothe joining the 2. Open the door and slip the flat part under the door, then close it. The roll stays with the door and you don't have to keep kicking it back in place.
I recommend installing weather stripping around your door. It's not hard to install and it's not too expensive. It would also help to keep your heating bill down. Wishing you well.
you need to apply a weather strip on the bottom of the door, and or use a door draft made for that purpose
yes if you dont have a storm door that is the best way to keep down drafts it cuts the wind from curling under you door
Add some weather stripping around the door to the wooden surround, I like the metal strip with the rubber gasket.
If its under the door, add a threshold flashing.
You know you can call the power company for a free annual energy efficiency house analysis where they come out and show you where your losing heat and increasing your energy costs.
Look to see if there are programs in your area that do this for free. I had it done once and they really helped with huge drafts my new bought house had. It had to do with the electric companies, some program to lower you electric bill. Maybe you can contact you electric company and see if they know of this. I live in south Texas so i don't know if every state has this program or not. Good luck.
They might find other drafts you are unaware of.
