We had clay soil and added lots of sand. We worked it in well and ended up with a beautiful vegetable garden.

Yes you can but be aware that not all plants will thrive in that environment. Check with your local green house for plants that will work

Clay soil is tough! I have had good luck by adding sand. You can buy it by the bag or have a load delivered depending on the size of the planting area. You will need to work it in real good and break up the clay. Ratio sand to clay is your call. One good thing about sand is that is does not decompose so once you get the ratio the way you feel is best, you won't need to add more each year.

I have very heavy clay soil. Where I put my vegetable garden. I heavily amended the soil with sand, cow manuer, compost and miracle grow garden soil. I wont kid you but it took a couple years to really get a good crop. But things did grow the first year, they did well. My blueberry bushes seem to love the soil plus they love the acidic soil because pine trees are very acidic with their needles falling to the ground and composting into it. Good luck!

Most potting soil is mostly sand you definitely want to break the clay into small pieces mixed with potting soil that will have plant matter. Just make sure it will drain.

Some flowers will do well in clay soil but you need to make sure that they don't mind being quite wet.

I haver clay soil down here in TN. I add potting soil to the area I am going to plant in. Mix it with the clay and make sure that the soil will absorb water.

Coming from Illinois it was a huge adjustment, but I love the seasons and how much longer the growing season is
