I hate my mirrored sliding closet doors and I need ideas
My husband and I each have a closet and they are mirrored. I hate them. (1970s) What can I do with them?
What types of ideas, décor, storage, colors? I would probably add mirrors or mirrored surfaces to make it look bigger. Also, under bed storage is a good way to go.
The possibilities are almost endless. Just search for small bedroom or something like small bedroom redo in the Hometalk search box! Prepare to be amazed!
Not alot of clutter laying around, light colors and simple designs will make it feel bigger. Also natural light helps. If ur headboard takes up too much room u can build a thin one and mount to the wall behind ur bed. We have a small bedroom and only keep one dresser in it and the rest on our spare room so not so cluttered!
So many ideas; I personally love adding shelving to get decor off of dresser tops and nightstands and onto the shelves. Adding a shelf above your door, placing a few pretty boxes on top can make for a great place for small / medium item storage. Under the bed is prime real estate for storage as well. I love those long flat plastic boxes from Ikea - they fit perfectly. I have 4 boxes under my bed for the following; bed sheets in 1 box, shoes in another box, and out of season clothing in 2 boxes.
From here on out, ONLY purchase furniture with storage; ottomans that open up, nightstands with drawers, etc.
Storage is always the problem for a small bedroom. Putting the bed up on risers and using under the bed drawers or boxes helps free up a lot of space. Tables can be draped with a cloth to hide more storage and a chest offers storage as well as seating.
My bedroom is tiny but pretty nice. I have a four poster queen. I've hung bed curtains on the back of it and I have a spread to match the curtains. The bed is pine and I have an old simple dresser painted white. I used lavender glass handles to make it prettier. I have a lamp on top of it and a mirrored jewel box making it look a little more glamorous and two sparkling candle sticks. I have my large flat screen TV on a stand at the foot of the bed and I'm using a narrow, tall and pretty plant stand as a side table for another lamp and a clock radio. Pretty decorative pillows look nice piled on the made bed. There is little walking space around the bed and dresser but it looks nice and I'm used to it.
