If you're thinking of a temporary solution until you can upgrade the counters, do it. If you're thinking long term it probably won't hold up very well.

While this diy project is a fad right now, there is still an expense involved in purchasing, materials, labour, and "down time" use of your counter. If you are not experienced in painting similar surfaces, the outcome might not meet with your expectations of look or wearability.

Because of the use of your counter tops paint won't last very long. Use of clear fiberglass or pour clear plastic like you see on bar tops. Can be clear or color added. But regular paint is not going to work

If there made of laminat/ fermica. They have kits at homedepot for counter tops for painting them. It looks awesome when it's done

  • It depends on what your countertop surface is now. I cook, every single day and even though I use cutting boards, my counters still take a beating and are constantly being wiped down and cleaned. How big is your kitchen? If your make the rounds of local stoneyards you can sometimes score a deal on leftover bits, which a lot of times is enough to do at least half a good sized kitchen. My vote is to save your money and get the countertop of your dreams or at least an upgrade.
