How can I clean white carpeting?

have white carpeting on stairs and living room close to kitchen hard to keep them clean. Any cleaning solution or shampoo good enough to remove the dirt/grease?

totally impossible to keep clean unless you never wear shoes in the house and your kitchen is incredibly clean. I suggest you rip it up and replace with something easier to care for.
Have carpets profesionally cleaned regularly. Also have scotch guarded, it really does help. In the pet section they do sell some foaming carpet cleaners in a can for spot cleaning. I have used several on occasion and have worked pretty well for the most part.

One cup of white vinegar to 5 gallons of hot water in my shampooer cleans and deodorizes my light colored carpets beautifully. Always spray afterwards with scotch guard.
No, not at all. White vinegar is very lightly scented ... it's virtually odorless. The light scent dissipates right away. Then spray your carpet with a fresh scented scotch guard. Mmmm very clean.
Apple cider vinegar is the strong, smelly vinegar that smells like sour pickles... never use that one!
