I had some book shelves that started to peel
. This was truly a paper thin covering - not veneer. I wet down the rest of it and peeled it off Don't wet it too much -mine was a combo of MDF and plywood underneath, MDF does not like water. Peeled pretty easily. some scrapping.
I primed and waited them, Once that paper starts to peel, I don't think you can do anything with it except take it off, Gluing it back down did not work well
You can chalk paint them, I did this to mine in my double wide mobil and love them.
