Have extra shells and not sure what to do once you've put them in a bowl or vase? Grab your trusty glue gun and a handful of glue sticks - here's an easy project you can complete in an hour or so using any extra shells you might have.
I just recently scored a WHOLE LOT of free shells off of Craigslist -- I've always got project ideas swimming around in my head, so I knew I could put them to good use. Here's a sample of some of the shells I acquired.
I also had several different colors, shapes, and sizes of coral. This one fit perfectly on the poster board backdrop so I decided to use this one. Since I'd be gluing shells onto it, I did not secure it to the poster board since the shells would hold it in place.
I had an extra shadow box - not sure how much I paid for it but I would guess somewhere around the $10-$12 range. The interior backside wasn't blank, so I used a piece of poster board I had on hand.
The most time consuming part was sorting through the shells and picking which ones I wanted to use. I started with some larger ones, then medium ones, then filled in some blanks with the smaller shells. I decided as far as the shells go, I was done...but I didn't like the fact that there was so much white space, so I decided to fill some of it in with some smaller pieces of coral.
Wow, those little pieces of extra coral made a big difference...NOW it's done! You can't go wrong on this type of project - just let your passion and your eye be your guide. :-p
