We have round windows in 2 bedrooms which face a hallway.

They were installed to brighten the hallway - which they do. But how to cover them for privacy? Currently we have 2 round pieces of cardboard that fit in the mouldings - but I'm ready to move on.

You can buy privacy film and cut it to your desired shape. Most Home Improvements stores carry it

    Make them like stained glass!!!

Gallery Glass makes liquid leading and stained glass paints. You simply tape your pattern to one side of the glass and squeeze the liquid lead on the pattern lines. When dry, fill in with color or colors swirled together. If you want some texture, use a toothpick and move it around in the paint.

when it's done and dry, it will allow light in.

Home Depot has a peel and stick product that will solve the problem and still let in light. You can cut it to fit the round windows. It gives a frosted glass effect and can be found with the peel and stick wallpapers

    I would frost them.

I had a similar problem in a small bathroom. I agree with Barbara; I bought a roll of the window film from Home Depot. They do a range of designs but I just bought the plain etched/frosted. It was easy to apply and gave privacy but still let in the light. I had plenty left over and used some to put horizontal stripes on the glass doors of a sideboard to update it.

  • Window film! Here is an example. Sold at home improvement stores, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and on line.

I like the idea of a privacy window. From my experience, gallery glass combined with wall stickers is fun. That's what I did. I've also done the window film, which takes less work than gallery glass. There are some beautiful patterns around so look at a lot of places before you buy.

Here's the window I did in my bathroom to give some privacy.

Wall stickers came from aliexpress.com and are designed for apartment dwellers so they can come off if they aren't covered with gallery glass like I did. Gallery glass came from Amazon and Hobby Lobby. At first I used the clear and applied in a circular pattern with my fingers. (Wall sticker went on 1st in one window and after 1 coat on the second window) For a final coat I used a frosted Gallery Glass and again applied it with a circular motion with my fingers. BTW, this all can come off if I want to change it.

Another option is to spray with a frosted glass product. My only thought on that is that it smells so awful and is full of chemicals so be sure to open the windows, use a mask and turn on the fans. One more option might be to actually etch a pattern into the glass. I don't know exactly how to do this, but you can always look it up on google or find tutorials on youtube.com if that option appeals to you.

Best of luck with your project!
