Would it devalue my fireplace to paint it out in white? It is currently gray brick.
We have built-ins on either side of our gray brick fireplace, and I would love to paint the fireplace out in white. However, my husband feels it would be a bad idea.
Sure you can, you just need the right paint - here are some links . . .

You can use Rustoleum spray paint. I do believe they have a primer, as well, for added confidence that it'll adhere.

Try bulls eye primer, small can will work, clean surface. lightly brush on or roll on with a foam roller. let dry recommended time, then try a Krylon spray paint in the color you like. Do a test on something you do not mind tossing made out of the same material. maybe a chipped cup or plate.
Spray paint should do it- cant wait to see what you choose!
