Try spritzing the most used spots with hot sauce. When they sniff and smell that they should avoid those spots, then take it from there to other spots and they may learn to avoid your sidewalk. It may take time, so be persistent, and give them time to learn. We have a neighborhood full of dogs that go on walks with their dogs, but everyone cleans up after their dogs and carry the necessary bags for this. Neighborhood sidewalks and yards stay clean and nobody has anything to complain about. I never see dead spots in the grass from them either.

Spiders don't like mint, you can make a mint spray with peppermint essential oil and water, and spray around doorways and windows to keep the spiders away! You coud also spray in the trouble spots that you tend to see the spiders! Good luck!! Happy Spider Fighting!!
