I need to thin out but want to transplant native beach grass to another side of my property. When is the best time to do this ? another part of equation do I cut down in fall for spring regrowth or cut down in spring the ones I am leaving in same location not ones I'm attempting to transplant. Every year the old growth turns brown and prevents the new growth from reaching potential. I love the grass and it looks so pretty.

Cut it all down, transplant in the spring. It's too late in the season to move anything in your zone. It won't be able to establish itself before the cold sets in.
