I have used semi gloss paint for bath rooms and kitchens but have heard that satin and eggshell works well also. Colors depend on what u like, what fits with colors in rest of house. Don't be afraid of dark colors with white trim

I usually use Sherwin Williams paint or Benjamin Moore and get the kind that is easy to wash fingerprints off. I think Sherwin Williams has a sale right now. As for the best colors, go to any paint store or Home Depot/Lowes paint dept. and take some of the free color pieces and then check it out in your own bathroom to see which colors go best. Avoid mid-tone greens like sage, mint etc. They cast a sickly hospital glow.
