New look for internal wooden staircase, simply a fancy paint job.
Just one crazy moment and, hey presto, there it was done, well er, it actually took more than a moment, in fact, many moments.. Simply a time consuming paint job, As you can see, the innovative part of this project is the continuation of each tread colour up the wall. A lot of masking tape was used to get straight lines. You may also notice between certain of the vertical stripes what is a New York themed wallpaper which along with the supersized fanned out playing cards lead the eye to the top of the stairs and my American themed area, but that's for another time. WATCH THIS WEBSITE!
The paint used was specifically that formulated for wooden floors. To add further tread protection each tread was painted over with a satin polyurethane varnish.
The only downside of this project is the increased footfall noise created when ascending and descending as compared to when the stairs were carpetted.
'Pianoforte' on the stairs. A tromp l'oiel key board, hand painted and fun though difficult to tune!!!
SNEAK PREVIEW OF NEXT PROJECT TO BE POSTED WHEN COMPLETED
My boudoir inspired by the bedouin tent of the arab,Sheikh Yermoney!
As you can see the door far left is not finished, also to finish there are tromp l'oiel bookshelves crammed with books, gold and silver treatment to fitted cupboard doors and a midnight sky twinkling ceiling, you better believe it.
