    Buy a beautiful container, plant 1 or more plants in it and give it to your friend.

    Kathy, you did not give enough info. I kind of think you get that idea by reading the other answers. Questions: Man, woman, child, relative, coworker, silly, serious, age range, and probably most important, price range??? Let us know something sometime.

    gift card- if its a gift exchange was a cost limit set? load the card with that amount.

    A clear jar glass or plastic with wrapped mini Hersey chocolate bars no nuts.... would work for many. Even if they cannot eat it they would set it on a desk ,table, counter top. You control the size of jar and cost. food always wins over small nick nacks . If you know the person a lunch gift card to their favorite place. kids would like a flashlight for night time.
