    a picture would help. when my dad passed, he got a dish garden as part of his floral display. there was 1 that looked like it had pine needles- but it reminded me more of a palm tree the way it grew. it is an indoor plant. it did not smell like a pine. if there is no pine scent when you touch your plant, keep it indoors.

      It is from the Conifers family and I would say it could be a Pine tree.

    This could possibly be a Norfolk Island Pine. It has pine needles with no scent and has very different care requirements as a house plant. Check Google for photos.
