Never cut back ur peonies until all the vegetation has died. Peonies get their vitamins from the leaves. You will be happy with bigger blooms in the spring.

I cut mine back in August. They come back in the spring and do fine. Plenty of blues!!

I do not cut my peonies until the spring & then cut the dead branches.
