Refinished Antique Desk

Have an old, rundown piece of furniture lurking somewhere in the recesses of your home? Bring it out, dust off the cobwebs, and give it a new life! I used black paint and Java Gel to give this old desk a brand new look, and she's GA-ORGEOUS! :) Blog post here: http://createinspireme.blogspot.com/2014/03/antique-desk.html
After
Here it is before. Lots of scratches and a missing pull.
I actually loved (and so did my client) the original pulls. so I just cleaned them up and kept them. One was missing so I just replaced the pull on the middle drawer with two antique knobs I had on hand.
I sanded the top down and stained it in Java Gel from General finishes.
Added some new fabric to the chair and...
Voila! A keeper for sure!

I found a similar desk that I am going to repurpose as a vanity/dressing table. Love what you did! I am going to do mine much like this.

Beautiful!! It is nice to see antiques that are complimented by their refinishing overshadowed by it!
