Since I have Lyme Disease and multiple tick-borne illnesses I want to protect myself and my family from coming into contact with ticks as much as I possibly can. Since we spend so much time in our backyard it is one of the most important places to try to eliminate the tick threat. I have a super easy (and cheap) DIY to help protect your yard against ticks.
With spring weather finally here, I’m so excited to jump outdoors for just about anything – from exercising to reading to entertaining. My husband and my favorite way to entertain – by far – is a summer cookout. Heck, we like cookouts so much we sometimes do them in winter! However, there is nothing better than throwing a summer soiree during summer outside on our back porch. I love to put my best foot forward when having people over. Even if the house has projects still in process and not everything decorated perfectly, your home can be clean and neat - even your porches. So my first thing to do when preparing for summer parties is to clean our porches! time
About a month or so ago, we swapped a couple rooms on the first floor of our house (former playroom became office, former wasted space room became playroom). The new playroom was off the front entry, and had a large opening that we needed to barricade. French doors would have been a great solution EXCEPT they are pricey, and I didn't really want to close the room off entirely. And to buy a gate for that width?? Forget it! So expensive, and I really didn't even like the smaller ones we already had.
Some of you may have noticed the large wardrobe in the corner of the room when you looked at the light project I did..... It started off a hunk of brown wood as below. Using Annie Sloane's chalk paint (the colour is Florence)I brought it in line with other pieces I've been doing for this room. I love how it has turned out. But you may be starting to know me. And I like surprises and lots of Magic...... Painting the inside of the wardrobe a harvest yellow made the wardrobe sing when you opened the door. I then added a dandelion decal and butterflies for more effect.
This wall hanging is a fun project that can to add color and cheer around your home. The basic form is created with sticks or dowels and can be enhanced with wrapped yarn or twine. As long as you have access to sticks, this mandala can be a great addition to your house for little to no cost!

These large round accent tables are unique, they're a bit too large for an end table, but too tall to be a coffee table..this makes them perfect for the center of a large entryway or in between 2 beautiful chairs to form a sitting area.I wanted to go elegant with this update and I knew just the products to use.....*Listed time does not include dry time, it's work time only*Listed price is for the amount of product used, not for the initial cost of the product
If you follow my blog you will know that I try and create all my projects from recycled materials. In our house, we all love Pepsi Max, which leaves us with a fair few aluminium cans. Instead of sending them to the recycling centre, I wanted to try and create an aluminium can wall hanging with them. Because aluminium cans are not very big, I wanted to create a wall hanging that was made up of smaller panels that could be arranged in different designs on the wall. So your wall hanging can be changed around when you get bored with the design.
This time of year is the greatest … back out in the garden, in the sun, doing yard work, and mowing. I can get some of my best thinking done while I'm on a mower.I love to repurpose and upcycle, so it's also the perfect time to start pulling out my stuff and making new things for my yard and garden.
I wanted a showstopper for a headboard so decided to do something different! After picking up some vinyl from the fabric store and some wood from the hardware store, we got started!First we laid out the wood and cut the pieces to size. This way we would know how many straps we would need.
This oh so Patriotic 4th of July Centerpiece is a wonderful way to give three cheers for the Red, White, and Blue – it’s also super easy to make and cheap!I love almost anything patriotic. I always have for as long as I can remember. I got it from my Dad. He was in the Marine Corps and instilled that love in me from an early age…and I am so thankful to him for that.
Couldn’t resist making one more fun piece for my garden before getting on to things I should probably really be doing. 🙂I’d like to attract more birds, and thought a small feeder in the garden would help.An old metal chicken feeder has been hanging in my garage for several years now, so why not put it to use.

When I walk around Dollar Tree and see random items that I can create with, it makes me super excited to get home and get crafty! For $3.00, I picked up a wreath form and two garlands then used some supplies from my stash to create a Patriotic Garland Wreath DIY project. Perfect for the Fourth of July and the rest of the year. I like to show my spirit for all things red, white, and blue by keeping up some decorations year-round. It also helps me remember the brave men and women who have made us the Home of the Free because of the Brave.

I am so excited to share these DIY hexagon shelves that I’ve been in love with & have seen all over the internet but anything I could buy wasn’t deep enough for me. I wanted to be able to stick 6″ pots into each nook, so I came up with the idea of these oversized hexagon shelves so I’d have an excuse to buy more plants! LOL
This project was so much fun to make! I love anything Patriotic/Americana, and what is more Patriotic than Uncle Sam?! I had some wood laying around from other projects, so I thought I would put together a Uncle Sam Porch Sitter. He turned out AMAZING!
Hey there! I’m not sure if any of you also suffer with terribly sensitive skin, but this is one of the cleaning product hacks I have found that tremendously help my sensitive skin! Home made laundry detergent, and a fairly natural one at that! I love this detergent! I’ve been using it for almost a year! I work out daily, my husband works on Diesel engines, and we have a six year old, and dogs... stains, smells, and grime run deep in our laundry, and this detergent tackles it all! 3 simple, easy to find ingredients and some optional essential oils, and you have a powerful, natural, cleaner that can tackle the biggest messes and smells! I’ll also throw in a few other natural cleaning extras along the way!
In my quest to make my garden pretty this year, I have a bunch of fun projects I want to complete. I am taking you all with me on my garden decorating journey! I made the Garden Stepping Stones, and the Garden Flower Stake. They came out so cute! Today we are going to make a super cute clay pot garden gnome.Follow along and make one for your yard too!
One of my very first yard projects was to create a planter bed and then my husband and I made pathway adjacent to it. Our plan for the backyard was to create a deck at one end of the path. However, our plan changed and now we are breaking down the path! Of course I can't just toss the Irish Moss I had planted between pavers. I will transplant them to the front yard and show you how!
