How do I refinish a table that has been saturated with oil?

This table has been professionally refinished twice and each time the finish has peeled off. I was told that the finish would not stick, because there was too much oil in the wood.

You will probably have to use an oil finish. Strip it, sand it, stain it and then use an oil spar varnish or hand rub tung oil for a rich finish.

Try using a heat gun to dry up some of the oil in the wood. Move it around as you heat it. Be careful not to scorch the wood.
You might try tung oil which soaks into the wood and seals it as it dries. The resins/oils in tung oil harden and might last longer than a finish on top of the wood.
I don't really have a complete answer for you. I googled your problem but came up pretty empty handed. However I did find out that oil needs to cure and if you keep refinishing that might be part of the problem. I'm adding a link where someone had a similar question but they added the oil themselves, thinking it was the right thing to do. If you scroll down to the comments - I think it's the 3rd or 4th one dow by 'thewoodwhisperer' - he has some insights that might help, possibly sealing in the oil with shellac. Read what he has to say and follow the links he has in his post. Hopefully they will help.
