Can I apply selfstick tile over fake brick?

I have fake brick that is painted for my backsplash, do I have to remove this prior to adding peel n stick vinyl tiles?

If the brick has raised areas in it, I would think that it wouldn't lay flat enough. If you back splash is behind your fridge, you might want to try one piece there and see what happens.

I certainly would. Not only would the tiles probably fail to adhere, but you will also be able to see the rough texture of the brick underneath.

Remove first or your going to hate the results.

I agree. We had that faux brick behind our range and I hated it. We had some other work done in the kitchen and wanted to include that wall too. The contractor told us that the only way to do it would be to remove the faux brick, smooth the brick wall and then put up the new one so that's what we had them do. I didn't trust myself to do a DIY on that one, but others have certainly done it.

You could adhere the tiles only if you used a good construction adhesive on top of the adhesive on the tile. There will be a tiny little space between the tiles that you will want to fill in with some caulk and if you cannot find the exact color, you can paint the caulk with acrylic paint that does match the color. I think it will work. Would love to see the outcome. The edges might look unfinished since brick is not flat, but maybe some quarter round or some other trim.
