Don't do it! You will regret it later. It will make it even harder to get off later, and you will end up having to remove it.

It is not a recommended practice as down the road the paper will bubble and peel

It depends on the type of wallpaper. I painted over vinyl and it was fine. If paper is peeling it should be removed. I used a pumice stone to scrub off partially peeling paper. It was messy but effective.

Some of the paper in my 1986 home just peeled off with gentle persuasion and left a cool pattern of plaster smeared underneath. It came off easily and the texture revealed was fine for painting. Good luck.

You bet! Make sure the paper is well pasted to the wall. **Lightly** rough up the surface with sandpaper. If you don't want the seams to show, use spackling to cover the seams and sand smooth. Use Kilz as primer coat and paint.

Agree with both Janet and Lisa.

Usually a short-cut solution results in a bigger messy job trying to fix the problem later.

I am a professional who has done wallpaper removal for 50 yrs, you will regret this decision if you proceed, and if you call someone like me to remove cause you can't get it off? my price will be at least triple what it would cost to remove it now.

Yes you can but first you must make sure all the seams are glued down . I would recomend that you use an eggshell finish. Anything with a sheen will accentuate any and all flaws in the wallpapper.
