grout froIt is a big job, but you can do it. Disconnect faucets, and shower head first. (Turn off water to shower, of course!) Then, study the edges of the surround to see what will need to be done to remove them. Some need to be peeled off the existing wall, some will have to literally be cut out. Try not to damages the drywall surrounding the tub. Once you remove the surround, install greenboard, hardiboard or other water resistant backing board. Then, using a product from your home center, fill in all the seams of the greenboard or hardibacker to prevent water from getting through in case of leaks. Then, Install your tile. After tile has dried, mix your grout and then grout over the tile. Clean the excess grout off of the tiles and allow to dry for a couple of days to be sure it is completely dry. Then, I always recommend using a grout sealer just to be safe. Paint it on your grout lines to help seal them even more.
