I have some wooden kitchen chairs that have become sticky from being wiped too often. How can I take away the stickiness without damaging the finish?

Try using Goo Gone to remove the stickiness. Then go over with some Old English lemon oil or similar.

Make a mixture of one part warm water and one part plain ammonia. Use it to clean the chairs, then wipe with a clean, damp cloth to remove any residue. The ammonia will clean and brighten the finish without damaging it.

I use murphy's oil soap and water. It does a great job on wood.

Karen gave you the right answer. After you wash with Murphy's oil soap, put Wilbert's lemon oil to preserve the wood, follow the directions on the bottle. Good Luck!
