try bar keepers friend or Bon Ami
Try a paste of vinegar and baking soda.
When I had copper bottom pots, I used to take a lemon and cut it in half. Then, sprinkle some salt on the copper, and use the wet side of the lemon to scrub the copper until it's clean. You may have to add a bit more salt as you scrub. The acid in the lemon and the abrasiveness of the salt works together to clean the copper.
Salt and lemon does a great job. Pour on the salt and use half a lemon to scrub.
I have been using Bar Keepers Friend & scotchbrite on my copper bottom pots & pans for 30 years. They look almost as good as the day I bought them.
