You need to repot the plant to make sure you get rid of the gnats. Remove the plant from the pot, Clean the pot really well, rinse off all the dirt from the roots and rinse the plant leaves, too (very gently). Use new soil for the pot and repot the plant. Then you can tackle the remaining gnats. I have never used a homemade spray for gnats or fruit flies. I use the store bought traps and fly strips near where they congregate the most.

Hi. I put apple cider vinegar in bowls. I add a little dish soap and then a little water. Just enough to make the soap start to bubble. It is my go to!

I tied the cider and the yellow paper etc... the thing that worked for me was to buy new soil replant then cover the soil in sand. I used black sand I found in a garden store. I used it a bit thicker than a 1/4 inch and closer to 1/2 inch thick. I water carefully No more pesties

Cider traps are great, & transplanting may be what you need. But a home pest spray for gnats, aphids, & other small insects couldn't be easier.

All you need is a spray bottle & unflavored vodka. After watering, mist the surface of your pot & the top side of leaves.

Facts are facts. Ethyl alcohol will attract almost any animal within the sent zone because almost every species likes to get a bit buzzed (pun intended). Vodka is low-oder so that zone is fairly small, and unflavored spirits are less likely to over or under attract a given species.

Insects have a low body mass so it doesn't take much for them to have a good time. The smaller the insect, the greater the surface to mass ratio. Any alcohol is a diuretic/desicant. The alcohol is absorbed through the exoskeleton at the same time that they are drinking it. It hits them fast. The die of dehydration quickly and feel no pain.

Another upside: dried out bugs are less icky to clean up.
