Have you seen the plant caddy’s that you put a large plant on? My friend KT gave me one minus the wheels. She cleaned out her stash and gave me a ton of stuff. Today I will show you how to make a Jack O Lantern from a plant caddy. It is so easy, easy peasy as they say.
I am so glad the idea popped into my head because it is kind of cute, don’t you think so?  As you know I always clean off whatever I am working on so this project is no different.  I like using white cleaning vinegar and water.
After it dried I used the brown paint I had left from the Autumn Thankful sign.  It is made from a paint sample and Poppies Furniture Paint Powder.
Then just as I was going to start painting the orange on top of the brown I got my order from Old Fashioned Milk Paint Company and the color I was waiting for is Pumpkin.  I mixed it up and brushed it on.  I love how it is a rich orange.  Not an in your face orange.  And with the brown base, it takes down the color a little bit more.
Finally, it was time to decorate this plant caddy and make it into a Jack O Lantern.  Now several years ago I bought the fall stencils and believe it or not they have come in handy. But you can freehand a Jack O Lantern face so easily.
Use black craft paint to fill it in.  Then sand to distress slightly.  And don’t forget to wax and buff it. Every pumpkin needs a stalk and this one is no exception.  I used the leftover rope from the landscape edging made into a pumpkin.  Just wrap a piece of duct tape on the end and to be extra cautious dab a bit of hot glue on the end.  Drill a hole thru the taped part and then screw into the Jack O Lantern at the top.  So you will want to hang it, take a piece of picture hanging wire and twist it around the screw.
Don't you think this is the most adorable Jack O  Lantern?  So if you have an old plant caddy around the house you aren't using give this a try because it is so easy to make a Jack O Lantern from a plant caddy.
