by Hummingbird
I want to build a rustic pantry from pallets. Approximate measurements desired are 6 1/2' high, 34"-36" wide and 17" deep. I would like to have two doors on it. Similar to this. Thank you.

Hello Humming :) Well, I have all sorts of plans on how to make many different things from pallet wood, but wouldn't you just know it that I didn't have even ONE plan for how to make a PANTRY from pallet wood! So began my search for the picture AND PLAN for the pantry you have posted. No luck HOWEVER I DID find this page that explains HOW this particulr pantry was done, and my search continues for the one you have pictured above.

Well STILL no luck finding plans on how to build the one you posted, but I am fairly certain that when you study out the details of the 3 I HAVE posted, and compare the explanations of how they were built with the design of YOUR picture, you will be able to figure out exactly how to build your own pallet pantry to your specifications ;) Good Luck and thanks for asking HOMETALK how to build a pallet pantry similar to the picture you had posted :)

Two cautions: Make sure the pallet wasn't used for anything toxic and, make sure all of the nails, screws and gravel etc. have been removed before any cutting is done. I use an inexpensive Harbor Freight metal detector for nails and screws and one of their magnifying glasses to look for larger hunks of gravel or glass (very common).

Some pallets are made of hardwood and are ideal for a more finished look, but most in my part of the country are just inexpensive "white wood", but still a good source and ideal repurpose material. I always use a wire brush on my electric drill as a final cleanup before sawing or drilling, and then lightly sand the pieces before joining them and again after the project is ready for finish. My choice is a couple of coats of whatever water-based sealer I have on hand for indoor projects or oil-based if outdoor and then a couple of good applications of Danish oil or Linseed oil.

It looks like the carcass was make with plywood and the sides were covered with the pallets. The doors don't look like pallet wood , they look like knotty pine. My observation is the bottom is made with pallets, then carcass placed on top of the base and sides cut and added to carcass, doors are pine planks.

    Looks like and easy build.
