In the past, when trying to create artificial floral arrangements, by the time it is complete, I could have had it done professionally without frustration and much cheaper. Have two windows on front porch and two on other side outside porch. Are there artificial flowers available that are less expensive than Walmart?

  • Yes! I start at the Dollar stores and work my way up. Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Dollar General, 99 Cent Stores. I find all sorts of great flowers there, my Walmat no longer carries silk or artificial flowers anymore, so that is no longer an option for me. Anyway, I collect them all the time for use in various craft projects and mostly wreaths, then fill in with a few sprigs of more expensive items from fabric, craft and hoobby stores. I have, on occasion found great stuff even in the supermarket too. Just keep your eyes peeled wherever you shop!

Don't forget free stuff available from nature. Add collected pine cones, acorns, Black-eyed Susan flowers, branches with pretty leaves or even crabapples or other fruit/veg like Indian corn, pumpkins, pomegranates, gourds, etc.

If you're looking for silk flowers, also go to garage sakes. I scored big time this year. Also watch the coupons for AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, Joanne's, Michaels etc. They have coupons every week f=at around 50% off - only 1 per day through their email offers but that really helps if they are close enough. a 25-50% off helps a lot.

Also Thrift store are often a good source for artificial flowers. Choices are sometimes a little worse for wear, but for a cheaper-than-retail starting price, they can be taken apart, flowers removed, re arranged, and re-used.

To clean any artificial flowers, put in a clean plastic bag with salt. Shake like crazy, then remove the flowers only, and outside, blow dry them on no-heat setting with a hair dryer.

Can you explain a little more? Is this a double window that is near the floor.....or will you be putting this on a table? And what season?

Check second hand and resale stores. There's Craigslist 'Free Stuff' but the obvious down side is you never know if you'll find desirable things within the distance you are willing to drive. As for the nature made decor, I'm actually in the process of putting together a fall wreath with Clematis vines and dried leaves out of my yard.
