Black Satin Behr Latex is what I use. Very smooth and very durable.

Smooth sounds like you don't want to see any brush mark? Take doors off and spray paint them.
  • Take to an auto body shop, my girlfriend did, it looks awesome! Just like glass . . .

I would use a latex semi gloss. If you want it really shiny then use a high gloss.

I really like Rustoleum's Painter's Touch. I've refurbished several Depression-era floor lamps that had spent some time in a wet basement and had rusted. The Painter's Touch laid such a nice finish on them that it looks like a ceramic coating. You will have to take the doors off and set them up on saw horses to spray but you won't have brush marks to spoil the smooth finish. I would estimate one spray can for each door side, maybe less.

nI had to start in one corner, the furthest from the door, and take an area of only 3 square feet. I pick up each article individually and consign it to 1) a trash bag, 2)a bag of things to put away in other rooms, 3) things to give away to charity or someone who wants it, or 4) things that I am willing to fix (I have to be very careful with number four, because it's so tempting to think I will fix everything. In the long run I end up fixing very few things. So I usually give myself a deadline of a week or two, at which time anything that is not fixed goes away.

Hi Debra. I love Pittsburgh Paints. I have tried others but they didn't cover as well even when it was paint and primer in one.
