Is there one color interior paint that will stand the test of time?

I don't want to have to repaint every couple of years in order not to be too 'dated'.

It's always a personal choice, but I prefer Valspar's color: Oyster Pearl in a satin finish with semi-gloss white trim. I believe it's a wonderful neutral color and timeless. Best of luck.

I feel that anything in the "white" family with an eggshell finish is good. I took a chance and painted my LR Lake Placid Blue (Benjamin Moore) with white trim and have been very pleased for eight years. Liked the color so much I painted kitchen the same color.

Look before your leap because you will either have to:

    • repaint it
    • choose another color

Picking colors is time consuming and a pain in the neck, but sometimes you hit the mark the first time. Do you have a friend whose house you admire? If so, ask them for some advice/help.

    Good luck.

Hello, a cream color is a good choice and will go with any color in the room. I think plain white is too shocking but anything like pearl, oyster, off white, light beige, ivory etc. will stand the test of time.

A soft color that you love will stand the test of time. Soft sage greens, grays and a paint named Rainswept by Sherwin Williams are favorites. Personally, I like warm colors and have had the same shades of coral throughout my downstairs for over ten years. The blue/greens and grays are in bedrooms and the bathroom. Get a color sample and paint a section of wall, so that you can see it in different lighting at different times of day. Live with it for awhile and you will quickly figure out if you like it enough to commit.

There really is no paint that will stand up to the test of time.Sun will fade it,heat will discolor it,fumes from cooking etc.
