they don't like cold winds. is there a way to protect it from the cold winds?
Bone meal is the answer, put it in the soil around the plant, mix it in well and water. Can be found at Lowes or any garden store. Worked for me.
Depending on the type of plant, if the new growth begins on the wood stems, do not cut it back at the end of the season. It will not bloom!
Had the same issue and did these two things to get many blooms this year. Use triple phosphate Fertilizer to boost plant blooms and I protected by surrounding with bags of leaves over winter to curtail wind and cold.
