What's the best way to repaint the metal on porch lights ?

How do you prepare the surface so paint will last? The metal part is rounded. Help!!

Lightly sand to remove any gloss and roughen the surface for paint. Use a metal spray paint. Several light coats will give you a smooth finish.
they have a metal spray paint for this. Just clean surface. I used on my mail box. I think it was rust
If you can take them down, the easiest is to spray them with Rustoleum. Proper prep is to sand down all loose material. Clean well with Dawn dish soap to remove any grease.
