First you will need a strong comb.. with fairly wide teeth. Start at the back and brush away from you (for round styling brushes, rotate brush as you comb forward) this should "ball" up the hair at the end of the brush. Pull off the "ball" of hair and discard. Repeat combing and pulling hair until brush is hair free.
To wash the brush, fill the sink partway with hot-ish water with a little shampoo in it, use a 2nd, hairless, brush and scrub the 2 brushes together in the soapy water. Rinse well and let dry.
  • I run a comb through it. I also have an old time Fuller Hair Brush cleaner, a handle with a bunch of wires on it.

remove hair, dust and other fibers with a fine tooth comb. Soak brushes bristles down in a mild soapy solution, with a bit of ammonia to break down the accumulated oils and grime, after a while re-comb the brush removing lose particles, continue til no signs of grime then rinse with clear warm water. Dry the brush bristles down on a dry towel making sure the area where the bristles are attached to the base is completely dry so not to harbor any mold or bacteria.

I have the kind with the little knobs on top of the bristles. I use a fork or something to get to the bottom of the bristles and pull the hair off that way. After the hair is off, and the brush is washed, disinfect it with vinegar and let it dry on a towel bristles down.

I take 2 brushes and run one up the side of the other then remove the hair from the top. Then switch and repeat.

Remove hair with a comb toss in washer with a load of towels do not put in dryer. Alas a clean hair brush.
