Pinterest has a lot of great ideas , have a look
Look in magazines, gardening and landscape books, online, Pinterest, Hometalk, etc for tons of ideas. Save designs that appeal to you, and gradually you will get a picture of how you want your yard to look.
Hire a landscape architect! Contact a local college, sometimes they need projects - they could help you with your house. Many of the better nurseries and garden centers have resident Master Gardeners and landscape architects to help you. They chage a flat rate or a "project rate" and some are hourly. My favorite is B B Barns in Asheville Arden, NC - look for something like this . . .

First, figure out what you want in a yard.
Yes, Pinterest has tons of ideas, but you have to decide how you want to use the space or you might collect hundreds of ideas and still have no clue what you want. Plus you have to look at the budget. Plants take a while to pay you back. Decks can be costly. A fence is nice, but is it really what you want?
How big is the area for planting, what is the location, what is the lighting, what plants do your prefer ? your thoughts need to be given for any one to possibly be able to answer the question
I would hire a landscape architect.
