      Each year in the early spring, sprinkle a pre-emergent weed killer on your garden. It is made to kill weeds and grass before they emerge. also, you can lay a layer of cardboard over the soil, and cover it with more soil. The cardboard will prevent grass and weeds from growing, and it will eventually compost away and add nutrients to your soil.
