Pruning lilacs

I know these should never be pruned in the fall; however, we've had a long drought and leaves are turning brown. Yes, I'm watering, but do I prune off these dry leaves?

no leave them alone.Pruning lilacs should be done after they stop flowering.The brown leave will fall off by themselves
