Recycled and Decorated Tin Cans

Needing a place for all my scrapbooking pens, markers and tools; I decided to recycle tin cans to fulfill the need. I painted them with chalkpaint and then embellished them with bits of lace, twine, burlap, drop cloth, buttons, whatever I could find. They turned out very vintage looking and fit right into the decor of my craft room....
After painting them I decorated them by gluing on all sorts of bits and pieces. This one has a bit of book page wrapped around it, then a small medallion of lace with burlap and ribbon added. Lastly a key and label.
This one has a vintage picture of my Grandmother and my aunts pinned to a piece of drop cloth wrapped around it.
I embellished each of them differently then stacked them on a lazy susan so I could get to all of them easily.
I am very happy with the finished outcome. I have so much storage now for all my pins and they are right at my finger tips....

The tops of my empty cans are rough. What do you do do it doesn't give you a nasty jagged cut?

This would perfect for scissors and other items, not pens - i lay them flat to not dry out.

Very attractive... they don't look very much like tin cans anymore. Your many different ways of embellishing them is great!
