Most counter tops have a wood substrate except for granite, marble, and quartz. Wood substrate countertop is caulked around the edges and screwed from underneath. Remove the screws and pry with a flat prybar to break the caulk seal. A stiff wide putty knife can be use to cut into the caulk. Granite, marble, quartz, and solid stone is usually just caulked along the edges. The weight and caulk hold it in place. Removal is the same but no screws.
