Painting refaced cabinets not wood.

Hello, I had refaced cabinet nets installed years ago and the light wood color isnt what I want anymore. I was wondering if I could paint them. Can I paint them and what kind of paint would I use? any sanding? The laminate on the cabinet doors is pretty thin and supposedly vacuum sealed.
thank you.

Yes you can paint them. Slightly rough up the surface and use a primer on them and you could use chalk paint or Lowes has actual cabinet paint. Just make sure you seal them because they can get stained with all the food and water in the kitchen.

Remove all hardware and doors. If they are laminate cabinets, you need to clean them and make sure there is no residue left on the cabinet. A wipe down with TSP and water will do the trick. Use a primer for laminate and paint with a good latex paint. If you want oil, make sure your primer for laminate will also accept oil paint. There is no need to seal a good latex or oil paint.
