What is the best thing to do with a small area between a garage sidewa

I have an odd space like that at my house too. For me, it was perfect for all my succulents.

If you love plants, low groundcover (it seems that you would have to remove what is there and/or replace with good soil), or just fill it with pebbles, rocks...if you are handy, can extend the sidewalk by adding pavers???

Because it is only 30 inches wide, I'd plant shrubs that do not need a lot of care or water.

This looks like it leads to your front door? I would find a metal wall hanging to put up on the siding to bring the eye up. You could put in a tall evergreen such as a Cyprus spiral tree or these:

Start with the tallest plants in the back next to the house and move smaller toward the walkway. Your selections will be based on your growing zone.

You can have the sidewalk widened all the way to the garage. If it has a lot of sun, then plant shrubs that don't require a lot of attention. A trellis would be cute and maybe some climbing roses. Don't use wisteria or other vines that might climb under you siding. But some kind of trellis you can hang christmas lights and other lights on it. This would make people smile when they pass and give you a lighted path if you have to walk that way.

Keep it simple.... Plants touching your garage wall are not good. Just fill the space with bags of colored rocks or marble chips.... What ever color you like. Keep the level with the walk and........ your done........ I like it!!!

I personally would add two spiral bushes one one each end and in the center add a decorative trellis or small shrub with an over head long medal decorative planter and add mulch to make it complete. I think it lends itself to some low shrubs or plants with mulch added in between. Of course the type of plants depend on your area of the country. If you are in the South, bromeliads would look great. They don't require a lot of water or maintenance,

Every time I have an area in my home or yard that I hate, I look up inspiration on Pinterest. I usually spend about a week gathering inspiration and a few days implementing my ideas. If it's really a 20 x 30 foot wide space, you could do really anything you want with it. In awkward yard spaces at my home, I have built gorgeous raised garden beds, placed a greenhouse, built a pebble mosaic walking labyrinth, designed and built a playhouse structure with slide, incorporated amazing rock gardens with succulents and perrenials, and even created a decent sized koi pond. You could even build a chicken coop if you wanted. Your yard is an empty canvas ready to be painted with literally anything your imagination wants in your life. Other possibilities are to create a backyard game area with jumbo chess on pavers or make a scrabble board from tiles. If it's an area with some privacy, maybe add a jetted Jacuzzi, trampoline or set up an area for an above ground pool, especially if you have kids that need outdoor time. You could do a pergola with a small patio area. Maybe build an outdoor bar/entertaining area with a firepit. There are sooo many possibilities. Find something that will fit your lifestyle and needs that will bring you joy when you are near it.

I have 2 spots like that in front of my house one on each side of my step. I have no front lawn, as I'm only maybe 6 ft off the highway. My yard is sidewalk from house to curb. I planted hosts which have beautiful coverage. I also have different colored lilies, and irises. It sounds kind of crazy, but the mix is really pretty and very little work.

Before you spend money on plants make sure there is no overhang from your roof. That area looks especially dry which is the same situation I have. Although I have a nice sunny area it does not get wet when it rains so I had quite a few plants die. I have mulched it with the rubber mulch & added some garden statues. I add some seasonal plants on plant stands during the summer but am able to move them if we take a trip or if there is a heat wave.

If you are not into gardening, fill it with river rocks.

You could get narrow long planters and dig them part way in and just fill with seasonal plants, thus good soil and you mix up the variety as the years go by.

Hand water as needed.

I personally do not like to have a lot of plants year round next to the immediate house or outer wall areas due to bugs, rodents and such, but seasonal planters is one idea.

Another option is fake plants, they make some pretty nice ones these days and you would not have to water them.

Probably best to just fill in. And move the solar lights to that area. Just to make mowing easier.
