  • How about using baskets? Looks like a fantastic space to work with.

I use baskets and fold-out boxes in mine. It is surprising the amount they can hold.

I don't know how big your family is, but I just got rid of a ton of towels and bedding. I ended up putting out newer ones and donating the old ones. If your thrift stores don't take them, the animal shelters may.

All you need is 3 sets of sheets per bed max.: 1 for the bed, 1 for the wash, and 1 in case of illness. Most of the time I just put them right back on the bed after washing--saves folding them, lol. I have one set for winter that is warmer. You can put the whole set in one pillow case. It keeps everything neat and together.

I now roll my towels and put them in baskets, and I can put many more in a small area.

Use plastic crates turned on side, and put rolled towels in one, roll sheet sets in one size for another and mark crate for each size, ,,, https://www.amazon.com/United-Solutions-Organize-CR0001-Container-Organize/dp/B000HM8BXY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1507521262&sr=8-4&keywords=plastic+crate

you can also stack these on floor for more storage for items accessed seasonally.

I don't know how tall it is. If it is fairly tall put a wider shelf on top for blankets. I personal would pull all the wire shelves out and replace them with deeper wooden ones. Put strips of 1 x 2 's about 16"to 18 " on each side where a shelf would be, all the way up. you can get 1" x 10" boards at the hardware store ( Lowes and Homedepot ) cut to the length you need if you can't do it. If it measures 5ft across use a 1 x 10 10ft long. This will eliminate the side shelves making it look neater. 2 rows deep looks nicer. I am just guessing the size. So you can get an idea.

You might try rolling towels. Sheets I fold and put them in the pillow case, which takes up less space. I also have cloth storage bins in my closet or clear ones so you can see whats there.

It must be so hard to even see what is on the bottom of those piles, I would venture to guess that even some of the middle items probably haven't been used in a while.

To have anything- linens, clothing, anything folded, on shelves, do not have any more that 3 layers of the same item stacked on top of each other. More than this, then they just begin to slide off, get shoved back, and pile up.

Go through your stuff and start new piles of same size frequently used items. Stuff that you don't recognize as having been used for a while, store elsewhere, in bins or baskets, or pass on to where they will be used more.

Rehook these shelves to new heights, and get some more shelves so that they all can be mounted closer together to accomodate only 2 or 3 like sized items high in each space.

You have a lot of linens so I would use baskets to keep things neat and organized on the shelves.
